Issue in Microsoft PPS 2010, is unable to send multi selected filter members to action reports

Hi,

I have a dashboard with 1 filter and filter type is multi selection.

That filter is mapped to one report in my dashboard. Based on the filter selections it is returning the correct values as expected. Thanks for Microsoft.

I have a report action with one parameter which can able to receive the single member value from the dashboard filter and returning with correct result.

But, When I selected 2 member values from the dashboard filter, the report action opens with all member value and not returning with the correct result.

I have verified my report in report action in cube action tab and configured properly.

Verified the report in report manager by passing multiple values from the parameter and it is working as expected.

Also verified in the Sql profiler at the time of working with report in report manager and at the time of     working with the PPS dashboard filters.

Please help

I need it urgent.

Trying to get a better understanding of the setup.  Sounds like you are using a report action in a SSRS report that is setup on your dashboard, is that correct?  What is the expression that you have setup in the report action to accept the parameter values?  Doesn't sound like the format being passed is correct when sending multiple values to the report action, so that is why it is getting confused and simply returning the default or All value for the report..  Would need to see the expression you are using though to verify.

Thanks for reply Dan,

Please see the below query.

UrlEscapeFragment([Employee Category].[Employee Category].currentmember.uniquename)

The ssrs report can handle multiple parameters and we have already tested. Only problem is in cube actions only.

Thanks,

Okay, so it is a report action that is setup in the cube.  As far as I know you can only pass a single value based on the context that you are referencing when you call the cube action.  If you are doing this strictly in SSRS not a problem, but not through the cube action in SSAS.  You can see in your query you listed it is simply providing the CurrentMember reference.

There are a few other posts about this as well, such as:

Dan,

Can you please allobrate it.  I have seen the ablve link from your reply and it is stating that need to add ssrs report in pps and try to avoid the report action from the cube.

I am thinking that if we can modify the report action parameter query to receive the multiple paramter values.

Please help.

Thanks,

kishore

Instead of trying to launch the report action from your PPS analytical reports with a cube action, simply include the SSRS report in the dashboard and utilize your filters on the dashboard page to run the SSRS report.  This will allow you to pass the multiple parameter (filter) values.

But, the requirement is open the detail report from the pps analytical report with actions..

Please help.

You will only be able to reference and pass the single member value, so you will need to look for an alternative option if you need to pass multiple.

Can you please share your thoughts to overcome this issue.

You could replace the analytical grid with a SSRS report.  With the SSRS report you will have more control, unfortunately you will lose functionality, but if you need to pass multiple values that is the route you will need to go.
