Issue in DrillUp/DrillDown in scorecard (PPS 2010)

We have a strange issue with PPS Scorecard (SP 2010) where drillup/drilldown is not working. Though, the same is working with Analytic report, charts etc. It is the same cube/hierarchy/filter connection in PPS dashboard that we are using.

We validated similar scenario with adventureworks cube and it is working.

Any help in this regards will be highly helpful as this issue is causing us lot of issues.

Scenario

-          Create a KPI using cube measure

-          Create a scorecard using the KPI and have a Hierarchy (Say Geo Hierarchy) in rows.

-          Create a Filter using Geo Hierarchy

-          Create a Dashboard using the above Scorecard, Filter and connect the same.

o   NOTE: Connect using Member Unique Name and against Row Hierarchy (NOT AGAINST Row under Page)

-          Deploy and validate

o   Once the Filter is applied (Linked), DrillDown and drillUp shows up against scorecard line item, but clicking the same results with what you see already

Other Observations as we went thru' the issues

Our Cube

  • If the scorecard associated to the cube we have is not linked to any filters, then drillup/drilldown works
  • When the DrillDown option is chosen with Filter, the same query as it was fired to Analysis Services earlier is fired again – meaning no drilldown

Adventureworks Cube

  • DrillDown/DrillUp is working with/without filters in AdventureWorks on a scorecard/KPI
  •  Though adventureworks based scorecard works with filter, there results are not consistent between different iteration/trials in same session
  • <Member Expression>.Children is used by PPS to get CHILDRENS when we validate the query generated using profiler

Hello Kart,

Have you went into your Scorecard within Dashboard Designer and confirmed that your DrillDown options are marked?  IF they are unmarked, the DrillDown and DrillUp will not be available for the scorecard.

Pull your Scorecard up in Dashboard Designer and go to the Edit tab and then click on Settings.  In here you will see, under 'Allow one Deployed' section, Drill Down and you can choice Row members adn Column Members.

Thanks

I setup a KPI, Scorecard, Filter, and Dashboard using the Contoso DW sample.  I used the Sales Amount and Sales Quota Amount for the KPI.  For the Filter and in the Scorecard I used the Sales Territory - Territory Hierarchy on the Rows and in my Multi-Select Tree Filter.

If you connect the filter to just the Row in under Page the Drill Up/Drill Down options will not show up as you most likely found out.  If you make the connection to the Row Hierarchies it will work as expected and the Drill Up/Drill Down options do display and work just fine.

You can check the Settings option that Heidi mentioned on the Scorecard, but that is the default setting, so you would have had to uncheck those options.

I am on the SP1 of the SharePoint 2010, but as far as I know I have not seen any bugs related to this functionality, so it should work without any of the hotfixes or SPs installed.
