Issue accessing Exchange using Outlook - OWA works fine
Hi all,When we fail our Active node over to the passive, Outlook 2003 clients cannot connect. However, access over OWA is fine. See our setup below:SETUP- Two node cluster running on Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2 with Exchange 2003 Enterprise SP2- Cluster fails over to passive node perfectly fine with all resources up and runningISSUE- Outlook clients cannot connect to their mailbox via Outlook but can via OWA Any thoughts?

Ok was it ever working or is this a new issue? Are there any Outlook 2007 clients that can connect? Is there any firewalls in the way?Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:EMA 2K7,EDA Win 7,ES,SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

Has always worked, so this is a new issue. Not sure if any 2007 clients can connect. The only recent changes was the installation of Windows critical updates but these are on other clusters with no issue.

Have you updated the CAS boxes to the same patch level as the Mailbox servers?

I had a similar issue on 2003, we patch the mailbox servers before the FE servers, caused OWA to completely fail. Once we got the FE servers to exactly the same level it all came back. The patches where not just exchange but windows patches to.

Is there any related error in event log of mailbox server? If you ping FQDN of mailbox server, can the name be resolved? Please create a new Outlook profile and see if it works. Thanks,Elvis

hi, Do you have any error or events ? Download Windows Support Tool on Active node and Run rcpdump /i > rpcdump.txt All the services should be registered. Download PORTQRYUI and test 135 for Exchange server . You can also use NETMON to see how the connection is being made.
