Is virtual machine supported for Exchange servers
I need a clarification. Heard having Virtual machine for Hub transport production server is not recommended by Microsoft.
Is it true. If so why?Ahmed Ali

For deployments of the release to manufacture (RTM) version of Exchange 2010:
Exchange 2010 server roles except for Unified Messaging are supported in a virtual machine.
For deployments of Exchange 2010 SP2 or of Exchange 2010 SP1:
All Exchange 2010 server roles, including Unified Messaging, are supported in a virtual machine.
Hub server can be deployed in a VM.Randy Zhong, MCSA/MCDBA/MCSE/MCBMSS@CRM

If you plan to virtualize Exchange, using Client Access and Hub Transport combined role servers can make the planning process easier.
We recommend that you deploy these virtual machines in a 1:1 ratio (for example, deploy one Client Access and Hub Transport combined role virtual machine for every Mailbox server role virtual machine). And
you can also refer to this
