Is this good service to use?
Hi, we have exchange 2007 SP2. Now, we are considering google meeasge continunity solution. if our server is unavailable, users will access google to check emails. Is this good approach? is there a problem behind this? Thank you.

I have not personaly used Google Message Continuity, however probably if I would be you I would choose to extend my Exchange solution to make it more realiable. I know that it could cost more however you would have full control over whole enviroment, which sometimes is crucial when implementing company policies. I would not like to play with synchronizing all my exchange content with google, just to have it accessible during outage. I belive that you should have backup and restore procedures fully tested hance restoring your environment should not take very long. Of course there is always a risk of natural disaster like flood, fire when having emails in different geographical location is beneficial (Still you can achieve it using exchange alone)With kind regards Krystian Zieja http://www.projectnenvision.com Follow me on twitter My Blog

I would read this first, not all that simple and not a true seamless transition for the user or the administrator. http://blogs.technet.com/b/whymicrosoft/archive/2010/12/17/my-thoughts-on-google-s-message-continuity-for-exchange.aspx. Its powered by Postini which is considered very good but I cannot personally comment on the service since I have never used it. I personally prefer Spam Soap which provides for Message Continuity, Core filtering, message archiving, etc. if you are looking for a third party cloud service and are very competitive in pricing with other competitors such as Google Postini. They have 30 day trial so you can test drive to see if it fits your requirements.MVP Exchange Server

Hello, The problem with cloud services is that while these companies have excellent security policies and know how, their top engineers are not the ones doing the grunt work. Thousands of servers are being configured by a multitude of IT minions and it takes just one guy with lax work ethic or a night of partying to create a security hole that can affect YOUR data. Sometimes simplicity is best (KISS). Exchange and OS platforms are very evolved and reliable and depending on the situation, having a good server (IBM, HP, Dell) with RAID, ECC RAM, Redundant Power supplies (and of course backup) that is located in a data center should give you near perfect operation.
