Is it possible to simulate external (Smtp) mail in Exchange 2003
I have created a classroom enviroment in VMware, withone 2003 DC,one 2003 exchange server and 3 other 2003 member servers. The teachers who are going to use this enviroment, use a program that only works if they can send external mail. This virtual enviroment is offcours separated from our live enviroment. I am not a exchange goeroe, but is it possible to do some kind of simulation in exchange for sending external mail, are do i have to setup another exchange server? Would appreciate some info are a link how to setup such a simulation, if it is possible. Thankx

One option would be to simply set up another Windows 2003 server (as a VM) and use the SMTP Virtual Server that comes with Windows to accept the SMTP emails from the Exchange server. You can configure the SMTP VS to deliver the messages to file locally on the server. Tony www.activedir.org

Thanx for this very simple solution. I do have 4 other VM servers running beside the exchange server, so i will install smtpVS on one of them. Thanx Tony.
