Is it possible to mount public folders from a different organization?
We have an Exchange 2010 server running on 2008R2 SP1. I actually converted the public folders into two separate PSTs (the old Exchange server and domain are gone), and I am unable to find the PST backups. I do have the old public folder database, so I was wondering if anyone had a thought as to how I can pull this information out of the database. Thank you.

To answer the question in your subject: No. You'll have to clone a DC from the organization the server was in, build a server with the same name as the one that hosted the public folder database, restore the public folder database, and use something like Outlook and a PST to move the content to the new organization. I don't know if either Quest Recovery Mannager or OnTrack Power Controls support public folder content. You might check those two products out because if they do it will probably be a whole lot easier than building a recovery environment.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

When you say clone, are you meaning with all the old directory and exchange information? The new system has the old domain name (all accounts have been recreated) and the exchange server has the same name.

You don't want to restore to a production server and wipe out all changes made since the backup, do you? That's why you need to do this off-network.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
