Is it possible to have an appointment with custom category color?

I would like to be able to color categorize time periods in the calendar so that I can see what is being done by whom.

is it possible to create custom categories  with 2 colors or a color and a pattern?

Why you want to create custom categories with 2 colors? just curious.

You can refer create & assign color categories - https://support.office.com/en-ca/article/Create-and-assign-color-categories-a1fde97e-15e1-4179-a1a0-8a91ef89b8dc

to show the task category ie. project, BAU, etc. and the user.  A color assigned to user and a  color assigned to work category so calendar period would show what was being done by whom.

Hi,

I suppose Conditional Formatting is the better choice in your scenario?

You can define one condition and make the items meet the condition display one color; then define another condition and a new color for it.

Take Outlook 2013 for an example, in the Calendar view, click on VIEW tab -> Current View -> View Settings -> Conditional Formatting.

Hi,

You can learn something useful from this blog below:

The conditions can vary, just define it based on your request.

Here are more articles talking about the conditional formatting, I hope they will help you understand this feature deeper:
