Is it possible to create two same named email address in multi domain exchange 2007 setup?
Hi. I have been reading tutorial to setup exchange 2007 (SP2 on Windows 2008 SP2) in multi domain configuration. Both the clients have email policy to use only the firstname@theirdomain.com. After I have created support@companyA.com, I tried to create support@companyB.com, it said "support" property "SamAccountName" is used by another recipient object. My question is - can we setup exchange 2007 completely exlusive from one domain to another? I would be very glad if somone links me to tutorial. Thanks a lot.

No, you will not be able to do that. The problem here is , you can have one exchange org per AD forest. Irrespective of number of domains in the forest, you can have unique SMTP address.Raj

That's correct, but that has nothing to do with Exchange. The restiction is that the sAMAccountname property value must be unique within the AD domain. The sAMAccount name is the "User logon name (Pre-Windows 2000)" in the UI. >My question is - can we setup exchange 2007 completely exlusive from one domain to another? You can have many DNS domain names managed by Exchange. You can have only in AD domain name in an AD domain. To have more than one AD domain in an AD forest you need at least one AD Domain Controller for each AD Domain. Don't confuse the AD domain with the DNS domain. >I would be very glad if somone links me to tutorial. Thanks a lot. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
