Is it possible to book a resource and only create the event in the resource calendar?
Hi,
I´m runing Exchange 2010 multi-tenant mode w/Outlook 2010.
And was wondering
if
there was
a possibility
when a person
books a resource, that
the
only entry that
is listed, is on the resource's
calendar and not
the person
who book
the resource.
This
considering that
the person who
book the resource,
is only responsible for
the booking and
is not in need of the resource
itself. Or else there will be alot of "extra" events in this person´s calendar also.
Or
is the only way
to create a separate
mail
account for these
resources?
Regards

If you allow direct-booking, you can do that. In other words, set the permissions on the resource calendars so that the user's can open the calendar directly and simply create an appointment on it. Not typically recommended however.

Thanks for a fast reply, why isn´t it typically recommended? Is there a better solution to this isue then?

Direct booking means users have more access than they really need to create appointments. Best practice is to give everyone Reviewer rights only and let Exchange handle the booking itself.
I dont think there is a better solution out of the box.

Ok, is there a way to do this on all the resource calendars in powershell at once? Or do i need to add the rights on each resource on by one?

Use the add-mailboxfolderpermission cmd.

The article below goes over some caveats of direct booking, the bigguest issue being that users will need to have editor\write access so anyone can modify\delete other peoples events.

Note that Direct Booking is not allowed by default when using Outlook 2010:

To allow it, see the KB above.
