Is -AutomateProcessing AutoAccept necessary on room mailbox in Exchange 2007?
I have the "Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Administrator's Pocket Consultant" book (I call it the "bible"), published by Microsoft Press. It talks about creating room mailbox but there's no mention of the command: Set-MailboxCalendarSettings “RoomMailbox” -AutomateProcessing AutoAccept So I'm really surprised to see the following thread and other similar ones that we need the command: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/11a9152c-9922-4128-8e7a-e8b2f7952fea/ My question is: For newly created room mailboxes in Exchange 2007, is this command really necessary? Why is there no mention in the "bible"?

Hi, In Exchange 2007, there are two methods to handle the Meeting Request automatically: Resource Assistant for Room mailbox and Calendar Assistant for regular mailbox. If you set the AutomateProcessing as AutoAccept, that means the Resource Assistant is responsible for processing meetings. The organizer can receive the automated responses from the Resource mailbox. Otherwise, if you set the Autoupdate or None for the AutomateProcessing, the resource maibox will be changed as regular mailbox on the aspect of Meeting. The Calendar Assistant is handling the meetings. And Meeting Organizer don't receive any automated resposne. Thus, the AutoAccept is not unique value you can set, but it's neccessary for using.
