Internet Message Filtering blocks email from Scanner
We have a Samsung CLX-3160FN network multi-function and it works well. We were able to scan to email without a problem. The email From address is a valid user account. When we turned IMF on it blocks email from the scanner. We have tried other email accounts in the From field. We have setup our subnet as valid in the SMTP on the exchange server. I would appreciate knowing how to get around this. We have the default values in IMF. regards, Mark

You did not say which Exchange version you are using. Anyway in both 2003 and 2007 you can use the IP Allow List. If this list does not work you should verify a known issue which I documented in the links that follow: How to configure IP Accept List in Ex03 http://www.exchangeinbox.com/article.aspx?i=44&p=2 Details on known issue as it applies to EX03: http://www.exchangeinbox.com/article.aspx?i=44 How to configure IP Allow List in Ex07 + Details on known issue: http://www.exchangeinbox.com/article.aspx?i=106

I have setup the Accept list in Exchange 2003 and this does not work. I have turned it on, rebooted the server and checked that it is on and the mail from the scanner is still blocked. If I turn the option to archive or do nothing then the email is put in the archive folder or allowed to go to the inbox, but of course so do all the spam messages as well. this is definately a bug in exchange 2003 and it is most annoying. I appear to have exhausted all the possibilities. Microsoft should fix this as it makes IMF a failure. regards Mark

Yes, that link was provided earlier in this thread. There is a real problem with the filter not working correctly. It ignores the allow list and filters. So it must be a bug. I believe some action needs to be taken to fix this situation. regards, Mark

Another way to workround this is to setup another SMTP VS, make it unique IP address or port, the disable IMF on it. Then makethe Samsung application talk directly to this IP address for SMTP delivery, then the mails will not be scanned by IMF. I belive this can workaround the problem for the time being...and this is a better way to handle this issue ^_^
