Internal Message Tracking
I have been asked to find out if there is a way to track some internal messages. The issue is with a group of employees who work out of a shared mailbox and the movement of messages inside of this shared mailbox. If possible I would like to find out the following.1. Who opened a specific message.2. Who moved a specific message from the shared Inbox to a sub folder.I've already went through the message tracking logs but as I already thought only messages destined to/from the outside world is recorded here. It almost seems I need to use the storage group logs to look up the information I need and again not sure if this is possible.

Which version of Exchange do you use? Exchange 2007 SP2 has added this auditing functionality. Understanding Mailbox Access Auditing with Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 2 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee221156(EXCHG.80).aspx Otherwise you may need to use some third-party utility for this kind of auditing... You can have a look at below utilities. http://www.netpro.com/products/security-compliance/change-auditing/ChangeAuditor-for-Exchange/ http://www.quest.com/InTrust-Plug-in-for-Exchange/ Amit Tank MVP: Exchange Server | MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Configuration | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M Blog: http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com | User Group: http:/MUC-UG.org.in
