Internal Mail not being delivered in Exchange 2000
Our configuration:Exchange Server 2000 running on Windows 2000 SBS Server, which is also the domain controller. We are running Active Directory, and clients are Outlook 2003.External email is collected from our ISP via the Microsoft ExchangePOP3 Mailbox connector. All this worked previously and all email sent toxxx@previousdomain.com was received by our ISP and was then beingcollected by our Exchange server (using POP3 connector) and forwardedto the appropriate user mailbox. Recently I set up a new domain(newdomain.com) and our ISP has set up a mailbox that receives all emailfor this domain. I made the following changes on our Exchange serverto receive email sent to the new @newdomain.com domain:1. I modified the "Default Policy" under "Recipient Policies" inExchange and added a new SMTP type email address for @newdomain.com2. Updated "Forward all mail with unresolved recipients to host" tomail.ourisp.net (our ISP) under the "Default SMTP Virtual Serversettings". Also set the Smart host to mail.ourisp.net3. I've added aliases for @newdomain.com (type SMTP) to all users.I have verified that our ISP settings are correct by connectingdirectly using my Outlook client. I have tried running the InternetConnection Wizard (and changed my internet domain name frompreviousdomain.com to newdomain.com and back without success). The wizarddoes not complete and gives an error message saying that it is unableto configure Exchange Server settings and that details are logged inthe log file "icwlog.txt". Following is a snippet from the end of the log file: Call to EnablePOP3 () returned ok.calling _SetRegStringValue (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE\Microsoft\BackOffice\Connectivity\POP3, PostMaster Smtp, PostMaster@starfish.sti.net).Ignoring return value from call to _SetRegStringValue().calling _SetRegInt4Value (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE\Microsoft\BackOffice\Connectivity\ICW, Last_MailOption_Exchange, 1).Ignoring return value from call to _SetRegInt4Value().calling _SetRegInt4Value (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE\Microsoft\BackOffice\Connectivity\ICW, Last_MailOption_POP3, 1).Ignoring return value from call to _SetRegInt4Value().Error 0x8007043b returned from call to CEMailCommit::Commit().I am also unable to send email to local Exchange users (which workedfine previously). I get an NDR message in the event log with the following text (Source: MSExchangeMTA, EventId: 290): A non-delivery report (reason code unable-to-transfer and diagnostic code unrecognised-OR-name) is being generated for message C=us;A= ;P=STRATEGIC;L=STARFISH-070927202627Z-2. It was originally destined for DN:CN=HARV,CN=RECIPIENTS,OU=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP,O=STRATEGIC (recipient number 1), and was to be redirected to . [MTA DISP:RESULT 17 136] (12) I guess the first thing is to resolve the internal emailissue then worry aboout collecting and sending external email usingour ISP.Any help/pointers are appreciated. Thanks, Harv Hundal
