Inter site mail routing on AD site Link issue

Hi All,

1, we are facing issue between mail routing between two  AD site normal mail routed via AD site Link but when put an attachment it stuck in to site queue.

we have two AD site Site "A" has exchange 2007 SP-3 and Site "B" has exchange 2010 SP-3.

2, when we are migrating 2007 user's mailbox 2010 after mailbox migration user get a popup " Administrator has made  some changes ......................." after this when user restart his outlook client user can not connected as his mail server settings are still older.

this is working properly for sites having Exchange, rest 2 sites not having any exchange, there we are getting this issue.

Since you are migrating from another site, make sure AD replication is up to date, the mail server your mailbox is on is stored in AD, so replication may be alittle behind.  lastly make sure your 2013 servers are configured to respond to autodiscover requests in the 3rd site.

(get-clientaccessserver | select name, autodisc*)

If not use Set-ClientAccessServer to set the AutodiscoverSiteScope so there is a SCP everywhere.

Hi Vinod,

Thank you for your question.

1, we are facing issue between mail routing between two  AD site normal mail routed via AD site Link but when put an attachment it stuck in to site queue.

A:

Are there any transport rules to limit the size or format of attachment in site?

Are there any NDRs we get after emails in the queue?

Did we send attachment by OWA?

Was the size of email limited by connector?

We could collect trace message logging on Exchange 2007 in the following path and send trace message logging to ibsexc@microsoft.com for our troubleshooting:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Logging\TraceLogs

2, when we are migrating 2007 user's mailbox 2010 after mailbox migration user get a popup " Administrator has made  some changes ......................." after this when user restart his outlook client user can not connected as his mail server settings are still older.

A:

Did the OWA send/receive email properly?

If we could use outlook with Exchange 2010 without any problems, We could rebuild profile on client to check if the issue persist.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim

Hi, Thank you to revert.. Required detail are as below..

Issue 1,

Are there any transport rules to limit the size or format of attachment in site?

Ans:- yes, but it will block after 15 MB, currently 2MB mail is stuck in to Queue, with in same Ex version is working without any issue, like 2010 user to 2010 user and 2007 to 2007 users.

Are there any NDRs we get after emails in the queue?

Ans:- Yes, there is.

Did we send attachment by OWA?

Ans:- yes and from outlook as well, both stuck.

Was the size of email limited by connector?

Ans:- between AD site mail rout via AD site Link and i have checked the size limit is "Unlimited"..

Logs:-I will send you logs via mail.

Issue 2,

Did the OWA send/receive email properly?

Ans:- Yes, in each AD site it is fine, tested ....

If we could use outlook with Exchange 2010 without any problems, We could rebuild profile on client to check if the issue persist.

Ans:- after mailbox movement a popup for user about change made by admin, but after restart outlook client server shoud be change with new case array FQDN but it is still older one of 2007 mailbox.

when we reconfigure outlook profile it takes automatically and works properly.

Hi Vinod,

Thank you for your question.

We could run the following command to check if the issue persist:

Set-SendConnector Identity <SendConnectorname> -IgnoreStartTLS $false

You could also send NDR to ibsexc@microsoft.com for our troubleshooting.

Ans:- between AD site mail rout via AD site Link and i have checked the size limit is "Unlimited"..

Did you mean you have checked the limited of send connector?

There are following limitation on Exchange server, we could check it by command:

  1.        Global/Organizational Limit: Get-TransportConfig
  2.        Send Connector: Get-SendConnector <send connector name>
  3.        Receive Connector: Get-ReceivConnector<receive connector name>
  4.        Active Directory SiteLink Limit:( you have check)
  5.        Server Limits(transport rule: 15M in this case)
  6.        User Level Limits: Get-Mailbox User Name | Format-Table Name,*Max*

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim

hi,

if we have time difference on both Hub TX servers, then it is also create problem?

March 9th, 2015 12:19pm

How much is the Time difference and are each servers in the same time zone?

If they are in the same timezone and the difference is more than 5 minutes, that could certainly cause a problem.

Hi Vinod,

Thank you for your question.

Did you have check my suggestion in both Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010.

There are following limitation on Exchange server, we could check it by command:

  1.        Global/Organizational Limit: Get-TransportConfig
  2.        Send Connector: Get-SendConnector <send connector name>
  3.        Receive Connector: Get-ReceivConnector<receive connector name>
  4.        Active Directory SiteLink Limit:( you have check)
  5.        Server Limits(transport rule: 15M in this case)
  6.        User Level Limits: Get-Mailbox User Name | Format-Table Name,*Max*

Did you try to send emails with 1 KB attachment for testing?

Did you try to send emails whit different format attachment?

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
