Instead of increasing the mailbox size request from end users, whats the alternative options
From 2009, we are using Exchange 2007 server and archive server (SourceOne EMC). Having 3100 mailboxes. No PST options has been entertained in our environment since we use the archive server. Reason: If mails been moved to PSTs then we can't restore it from archive server. After al most 3 year..end users started asking us to increase mailbox from default 500 MB to 750 MB, 1 GB & 1.5 GB. We have utilized effeciently SourceOne Archive server instead of increasing the mailboxes by below steps; 1. Shortcut the messages with size more than 15 KB and keep the shortcut message with less size (1 KB to 5 KB) in user mailboxes itself. For every 15 days, 30 days. 2. Also based on the user mailbox size, we use to run one time ADOC activity in sourceone server to shortcut messages, which are older than a year or so.. 3. Purging the mails..overruled here Question: Instead of increasing the mailbox, how can we manage these kind of request from end users? PSTs overruled here..so anyother suggestions? FTP, share drive, ect... ThanksFunnyghost

Hello, Since Exchange 2007 do not have the Retention Policy Feature, I would suggest we take a look at the MRM tool and see if it can address your concern. http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/compliance-policies-archiving/exchange-2007-messaging-records-management-part1.html Thanks, Simon
