Installing Exchange Management Tools 2007 on 32bit Windows 2003 server
Hi,I have a requirement to import pst files into a new exchange 2007 64bit server and according to my understanding, i need to install a exchange management tools 2007 on a 32bit box in order to do that.So when i am trying to install it, it has a error that the Active Directory does not exist on the 32bit box. So my question is do i need this 32bit box windows 2003 to join the domain controller of exchange 2007? I am abit quite confuse about the Active Directry portion of this and hope someone can enlighten me on it.Thanks!yongsan

Have you followed the article How to Import Mailbox Data? If you have read the article, and also followed the steps to install the management tool, please provide the exact error info when attempting to install the tools Please also check the error info in the log at the SystemDrive:\ExchangeSetupLogs What do you mean about “do i need this 32bit box windows 2003 to join the domain controller of exchange 2007”? do you mean that the windows 2003 box didn’t join in the domain?

Hi,When I try to install the management tools 2007 on the 32bit system, the prerequisites failed as i do not have a active directory installed on the 32bit system. So must this 32bit system be part of the network as in joining the domain?Thanksyongsan

yes the machine where you are installing Exchange management tools, needs to be a domain-joined machine, other-wise the pre-reqs wont pass.

Were you getting the error info when attempting to open the EMC? Is there any error event in the application log on the windows 2003 box and exchange 2007 server? Did the installation of management tools complete successfully without any error event in the application log and the installation log?

Check info: 1. Which version of OS was installed on exchange 2007 server? 2. There’s no error event in the application log on the windows XP machine after reproduced the error again? 3. Have you seen KB 324174? 4. Please ping the IP address, NetBIOS and FQDN of the exchange 2007 server on the windows XP machine 5. Please run "DCdiag.exe /v" and 'Netdiag.exe /v" command on the GC and check if there is any failed tests in the result
