Installing Exchange 2007 First Time Question
Dear all,I have a Windows 2003 Std domain (single level) which do not have proper FQDN. The current domain name is called SOA2 as oppose to the correct FDQN of soa.com.my. So will Exchange 2007 installation work in such a scenario. Do I need to rename the domain? What is the best approach? Thanks.Regards,Kueh.

Single Label Domains are supported in Exchange 2007 SP1 and SP2:http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2008/03/26/448511.aspxThat being said, it is not recommended to use a single label domain and there is no guarantee it will be supported in Exchange 2010:http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2009/01/27/450514.aspx"Next version of Exchange and Single Label Domain (SLD) policy under review "If you want to rename the domain,do so before installing Exchange:More info onhow to do that:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/819145http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc781575(WS.10).aspxIf you have any other questions about domain rename, I would ask in a Windows Forum:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/windowsserver

Just as a follow-up. Looks like SLDs will be supported in Exchange 2010, though not recommended.http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2009/10/27/452969.aspxExchange 2010 and SLD / Disjoint / Discontiguous Namespaces
