Installation of Program file in SAN drive for Exchange 2010
Hello Team, We have planned to install Exchange Mailbox , Exchange CAS/HUB server and Exchange Archive server and Active Directory in Hyper V. Hence we have created 4 virtual machine and installed OS in it. The C: drive space on each virtual machine is 45 GB and now the OS & patches taken to 10 GB. Now we ve 35 GB free space Hence we planned to add SAN storage on the virtual server of 100 GB as D: drive and planned to install the application like Exchange Mailbox , Exchange CAS/HUB server and Exchange Archive server and Active Directory on it. When i read some article and few person say it is not best pratice to have application installed on SAN storage... Could you please suggest what will be recommeded and best pratisce for my scenario. Or shall i use 35 GB free space for installing the application like Exchange Mailbox , Exchange CAS/HUB server and Exchange Archive server and Active Directory on it. I have 40 TB of SAN storage but my internal server doesn't ve storage space internally. Management not willing to invest some more cost to add additional harddisk in the servers. Please guide what are the risk and mitigation can be taken on the above. This production enviroment for 30,000 users..:(Exchange Queries

Hi... Does anyone have any documentation on this recommendation? "Best practises is not to place the binaries on the SAN, only the data." I'm trying to understand why MS has this recommendation. (Also trying to justify this recommendation to my internal IT staff.)
