Installation Guide for setting up exchange 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2
Environment: 1 client machine running windows vista business. 1 server machine running Windows Server 2008 R2 with AD Domain Service installed. It serves as the main domain controller ---> domain1.com. Another server machine running windows server 2008 R2 with AD Domain Services installed. It serves as the additional DC fro domain1.com. So, in the domain, domain1.com, I have got one client and two DCs'. Now I added a third machine running windows 2008 r2 in domain1.com. I want to install exchange 2007 (e2k7en32) in this machine. What I have done so far? To install exchange 2007, I added the roles AD Lightweight Directory Service and web ISS in the third server machine. The following are the features now installed. Remote Server Administration Tools --> Role Administration Tools, AD DS and AD LDS Tools, AD LDS Snap-ins and command line tools, AD module for Windows Power shell Web Server (IIS) Tools >Net Framework 3.5.1 Features 1) Now what more roles and features I should add before installing exchange 2007 2) Is the AD DS role need to be added? 2)I think only exchange 2007 sp3 is supported in server 2008 r2. Will I be able to install e2k7en32.exe? I don't know whether this file has sp3 with it or not? Thanks and Regards, Radhakrishnan

I really don't understand why you're installing what's basically obsolete and soon-to-be-unsupported software. 1) It should all be here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719(v=EXCHG.80).aspx I always install the prerequisites using Powershell and Add-WindowsFeature. But I'm afraid I don't have the command for you because I haven't installed Exchange 2007 in quite a long time. 2) No. 3) That's what the supportability matrix says. Just download the Exchange 2007 SP3 distribution and install that. In fact, use that to run your schema, AD and domain preparation as well.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

What for you need AD LDS? 1. You need only AD RSAT, .Net Framework 3.5.1, IIS with some modules (listed on prereq site in Exchange 2007 SP3 help) and Filter Pack - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17062 2. No, only AD RSAT from system features 3. E2k7en32.exe is for lab purposes. Only x64 version is supported for production - SP3 version is full install with integrated SP3 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17062. Of course you should also install latest RU package (Exchange 2007 SP3 RU7 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29426)Regards, Konrad Sagala, MCT, MCSE+M, MCITP: Exchange 2007/2010

What for you need AD LDS? This is only for the Edge Server role - which does not apply here. Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.
