Information Store doesn't start automatically after a reboot
Hi,After every reboot I have to mount the information store manually.Event id 7001 is listed in the system log, with the following description:The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service depends on the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service which failed to start because of the following error: The operation completed successfully. And the other 7001 error listed in the system log has the following description:The Microsoft Exchange MTA Stacks service depends on the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service which failed to start because of the following error: The operation completed successfully. It's weird though: the operation completed successfully.Does anyone had this kind of behavior before? Most of the time are all Microsoft Exchange services that normally run also started. However, sometimes most of the services are down.My current workaround is to restart the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant.I would like to explain that I use Microsoft iSCSI Initator to create extra drives for my Exchange Server. D: for exchange software, E: for logs and F: for mailboxes. iSCSI traffic routes via a seperate Networkcard. The operating system is W2K3 and the Exchange version is 2003. The Exchange server is not a DC.There are no other errors on the server or windows domain. Everything else works as is should.Let me know when you need more information. Thanks in advance,Yuri

Hi, First please try to disable Microsoft ISCSI initiator service and then reboot the server. We will check if the issue will occur. If not, then please check the version of ISCSI and then post here. We recommend you to use version 2.03 which is more stable. After that, please apply sp2 for Exchange 2003. If the problem still persists, then we need more information for further troubleshooting. 1. Please reboot the Exchange Server. 2. Please start Microsoft Exchange Information Store Services. 3. Please start Microsoft Exchange System Attendant Services. 4. please download MPSRPT_Exchange.EXE from here and then generate mps report. 5. Please send MPS report to Xiu Zhang for further troubleshooting. Hi Xiu,Thank you for your answer. The Microsodt iSCSI Initiator I use on that machine is version 2.06Unfortunately I can't perform you test by disabling the iSCSI service because exchange and the mailbox store is installed on iSCSI drives.SP2 for Exchange 2003 is already installed.I've checked the Kerberos Key Distribution Center service and it was Disabled. I've set the service to Automatic and rebooted without a problem.However... ;-) Now I have Event ID 7023The Kerberos Key Distribution Center service terminated with the following error: The local machine must be a Kerberos KDC (domain controller) and it is not. I guess this is ok, it solved my original problem, but could you confirm this?(I noticed the Kerberos article -Article ID: 316710-is for Windows 2000 and I'm using Windows Server 2003)THANKS!Best regards,Yuri

Hi,We have a similar case to yours. But he has Kerberos Key Distribution Center service enabled. There customer use Microsodt iSCSI Initiator 2.06 and the solution is turn back to Microsodt iSCSI Initiator 2.03.Besides, Active Directory requires the Kerberos Key Distribution Center service for authentication. So if you have disabled it, then it could cause the issue.Regards,Xiu
