Information Store and Transport Services won't start
I am a newbie using SBS 2008. I moved the Exchange Database using the SBS tools, and now the transport and information store services wont start and deliver an error that says "1068 - the dependant service or group failed to start" when I attempt to start them manually.I tried to look via the EMC trouble shooting tools and it says they are unmounted. But, I the mount command does not appear when I go into that area of the EMC.Can anyone point me to the proper way to resolve this? Many thanks...-MIke

Sorry, I am not aware what SBS tools are. Did you move database using below method? If not, did you dismount the database before moving? Move the database back to original location and follow below procedure from EMC... How to Set a Database File Location http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201714.aspx Refer below articles to mount/dismount the database... Is this Exchange 2007 on a Domain Controller? Have you seen this article?Exchange 2007 services cannot start automatically after you install Exchange 2007 on a global catalog serverhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/940845Have you checked services to see what dependancies are for the transport and information store are? You may need to configure those services to start on a delay.SF - MCITP:EMA, MCTS: MOSS 2007, OCS 2007, Exchange 2007

Thank you for the quick responses!I did some more plodding and rebooted and the problem seems to have cleared up, although I have no idea what I've done. I'll read the resources you both provided and monitor. I'll things continue to be flaky I'll post updates. Thanks again!-Mike

Glad the issue has gone. And, for your information, this forum is for exchange related issues on pure windows server environment where dont have SBS tools, so please use the SBS 2008 Newsgroup which would be the most relevant place if you get any question about the exchange on the SBS server
