Infinite loading excel file due to data link

Hi,

I have a big issue with 2 excel files, my customer can't work and I have a lot of informations about the issue that's why I hope you may help me fast. Thanks.

There are 2 files, then called A and B, I got a data link from A to B that compell me to open first A if I want to open B. There is no macro. If I try to open B without A opened, I have an infinite loading without any error.

The issue is that the link is expired, then the file B can't be open and Excel doesn't propose me to update the link when I open the file.

I have ever tried to open the file with a macro which prevents files from updating data, it worked for me, it didn't worked for my customer.

I look forward to your responses.

Rmi F.

Ok I find myself the solution after being help by Microsoft support.

The solution is to change the file's extension from xlsx to zip. Then into the archive, you have more files and you can edit them. The links between files are into the file xl/workbook.xml . I edited it with NotePad++. It works now.

That's can be useful for anyone else.

Thanks
