Index search broken for one user - and only in OWA
Have one user that OWA serach is not working for. found this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945077 I tested the way described in this article and looks like this is the issue we are having. It says to do the following but I have some questions before I do it. To resolve this issue, rebuild the full-text index catalog. To do this, follow these steps: Open the Exchange Management Shell.Run the following script to remove the index directories that are associated with specified mailbox databases. ResetSearchIndex.ps1 [-force] <var><dbname></var> [<var><dbname></var>] Note The ResetSearchIndex.ps1 script is located in the <var><drive></var>:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Scripts folder. The script deletes the CatalogData-<var><guid of database></var> folder and its contents. When you restart the MSExchangeSearch service, the CatalogData-<var><guid of database></var> is recreated. Also, a full database crawl is started. What is involved in a full database crawl? This is on an Exchange Cluster - do I need to break relication on this database while it does this? The database is 221 gig - is this going to take days or hours to complete?

A full database crawl means exactly what it says - the database is crawled for indexing. The search index covers all mailboxes on the database, so with a database of that size, might take some time to do. You don't have to touch the cluster. Do it late on a Friday so that the reindex doesn't cause a significant performance hit on users. Simon. Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

a 140 GB DB takes about 3-4 hours. No need to do anything, apart from run that script.Sukh
