In-place Hold

I'm setting indefinite in-place hold on users from a child domain of the exchange server domain and the ECP is reporting this error:

I have tried using the -DomainController option when creating the in-place hold with new-mailboxsearch but it seems to make no difference. There are no read-only domain controllers in the parent or child domains. Parent domain user accounts don't exhibit the error.

Can anyone advise if the Hold error is a problem or if there is a fix for this?

Thanks, John McAlinden

Hi,

Could you please check again and make sure all domain controllers are writable?

If you run netdom query dc only writable DCs are returned. If you use nltest /dclist:contoso.com, both writable and RODCs are returned.

Please use the Get-ExchangeServer | fl command to check the domain controller you use.

Thanks for your response Belinda. netdom query dc & nltest /dclist: return the same domain controllers for each of the domains. Get-ExchangeServer returns the following for both Exchange servers:

StaticDomainControllers         : {}
StaticGlobalCatalogs            : {}
StaticConfigDomainController    :
StaticExcludedDomainControllers : {}
MonitoringGroup                 :
CurrentDomainControllers        : {}
CurrentGlobalCatalogs           : {}
CurrentConfigDomainController   :

and OriginatingServer is one of the child domain DCs. The Exchange version is 2013 CU6.
