Importing PST file - Mailstore Size Limit
Hi there I recently setup Exchange Server 2007 for one of my clients who were not on Exchange before. When I try and import their pst file into their exchange mailbox, it runs for a while and then reaches a point where the following error message comes up: "The message store has reached its maximum size. To reduce the amount of data in this message store, select some items that you no longer need, permanently (SHIFT+ DEL) delete them." I have looked into the error on the web, but a lot of the references are for Exchange 2003 or Exchange SMB...I have unchecked the boxes limited the mailbox and the storage sizes. I've run out of ideas. The pst file is close to 10GB and needs to be imported. please can someone advise me on how to increase the size? Thanks in advance

By default user mailbox size depends on mailbox database size configuration which is 2GB, did you try setting upindividual mailbox size to higher limit like 11-12GB? Hi there Thank you for your reply...I have cvhanged the settings as per the referenced article, but will only be able to test it out of working hours as the client is using their eail box. Will let you know once I've tested it.

Yes, agree with Amit.Btw, Microsoft Exchange Information Store service uses the cached mailbox configuration to enforce mailbox size limits. The configuration change does not take effect until the cache is refreshed. The default interval for refreshing the cached mailbox information is two hours. So if you changed the limit of that mailbox, it could not be enforced immediately. Turns out I was doing it correctly, but due to the issue that Elvis mentioned, the configuration wasn't being enforced till I restarted the server.
