Import PST from share that is not in domain
Hi, To import mail, I need to grant Exchange Trusted Subsystem group the file rights to the share. However, my share resides on a NAS that is not part of the domain. How do I get this working? Kind regards, Arjan

Copy the files to a domain member.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

This permission is required because it's the computer account of the Exchange server that makes the connection. Because all Exchange servers are part of the ETS USG, the guidance was written in this way. So perhaps your appliance can connect to Active Directory and add a computer account to it's ACL. But as Ed said, it's much simpler to copy all the PSTs to a file system within the scope of the AD's trust. Mike Crowley | MVP My Blog -- Planet Technologies

That's the way I did the import of a few testaccounts, but the main reason why I use a NAS is the lack of diskspace on the domain memebers. Unfortunately, I am not allowed (compliancerules) to make the NAS a member of the domain. I will write a script that does something like this: - Copy PST to domain member - Import PST - Delete PST (I still have the original on the NAS)

That sounds like a lot of steps, but doable. Another option would to buy a large usb drive. Mike Crowley | MVP My Blog -- Planet Technologies
