Import MDB Mailboxes into Exchange 2007?
Good afternoon all,I have a test network that is currently running Exchange 2003 in native mode. Three server provide the infrastructure: 1 x Server 2003 DC, 1 x Exchange 2003 SP2 Mail Server and 1 x Server hosting SMTP gateway services for email cleanliness.I am in the process of building an entirely new domain from scratch using Server 2003 Domain and Exchange 2007 mail server. Although the documentation and wizards for the Exchange 2007 install and setup process are superb I'm having trouble finding info out there to import my existing Exchange 2003 mailboxes into the new Exchange 2007 environment.I have found some very useful info on importing PST files into existing 2007 mailboxes, which I have tested and works great from the Exchange Shell but I wonder, is there a facility to mount the MDB file from the old Exchange 2003 machine (or even better an NTBackup file) and extract the mailboxes from it into Exchange 2007?Any help would be great folks!James.

Hi,You can't mount or restore an exchange 2003 database to an exchange 2007 server (exchange 2003 databases are completely different from exchange 2007 databases). You can either use the pst approach or use the move-mailbox cmdlet in exchange 2007.Leif

Thanks Leif, that pretty much answers the query then. And obviously I'd need my previous Exchange 2003 serveras a part ofthe new organisation, which I don't want to do, so i'll stick with the export and import PST approach.Cheers!

James, Unfortunately we cannot mount EX2K3 mdb on EX2007 server. the reason is Ex2007 donot support STM file, the log files are smaller, and the page size has changed, We even cannot restore the mailbox to RSG of EX2007 The Exchange2007 RSG does not support mounting mailbox databases from previous versions of ExchangeServer.
