Import / Export Dial Plan During Migration to 2013

I am not clear on the steps required to use the existing dial plan on a new 2013 server as I have built a new Ex2013 server to migrate my Ex2010 users to.  I understand the steps to be:

- move the appropriate system mailbox to the new server - Done

- Import dial plan and auto attendant custom prompts

If we really just want to use the existing dial plan, do we need to do anything here?  Can we use the existing dial plan?

I assumed that the existing dial plan would work as is for both the 2010 and 2013 server, but when I try to access a mailbox on the new server, I get a busy when trying dial the mailbox directly and if I call the access number I get a message saying, "Sorry you have a mailbox that is not supported by this unified messaging server."

Do I need to convert, export, import, or create a new dial plan for the new 2013 server?  I am planning to move all mailboxes at once, but I would like some confirmation that the new server can receive voicemail before I make the switch.

Hi! Did you ever resolve this? I find myself in the same situation as you.

This is the exact step on which I'm stuck, as well. When I run Get-UMService, the table shows that the only dial plan is on my Exchange 2010 UM server. Likewise, if I create a new dial plan using either the ECP or EMS and run this same cmdlet, the table still shows now dial plan associated with my 2013 Mailbox/UM/HUB server.

I have found absolutely no documentation on how to "Import the Dial Plan" from 2010 to 2013. It appears that Microsoft isn't concerned with providing documentation on their own product, which is quite frustrating. If someone finds this information, please post it here, as I will. Thanks.

I don't think there needs to be an import of Dial Plan.  You should be able to edit/configure the existing UM Dial Plan or create a new one.

If you need assistance, try engaging a UM specialist - Exchange 2013 UM Specialists

I don't know if you're still stuck on this, though I'd guess not by now. However, I completed my migration and, as Eric pointed out most recently, there is no need to recreate a dial plan or associate it with a server under 2013. Once you move your Arbitration Mailbox over to 2013, you should be able to disassociate the dial plan from your 2010 UM server and move forward.

In my case, I'm using Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), so I had to create objects there that were specific to the Exchange 2013 architecture (had UM integration for Exchange 2007 and 2010), then point my Voicemail Pilot to the new objects in CUCM and everything fired right up.
