Import/Export Mailboxes in Exchange Server 2003
Is there documentation about it, other than ExMerge (because of the size problem)?I tried running export-mailbox and import-mailbox on powershell, but it says that's not a command or cmdlet, so let me ask you what should I do if I want to export/import mailboxes in Exchange Server 2003

Hi,I think you only intalled PowerShell v1.0 on the server. It would be far not enough to run export-mailbox.First of all I not recomend to setup the required environment on the server because it requires Outlook what is not supported on the Exchange 2003 server. On a domain member 32 bitworkstation install the following:1. Microsoft Outlook 2003 or 2007 + the latest service pack2. Microsoft .NET FrameWork v2.0 + the latest sp and hotfixes3. Microsoft Management Console v3.04. Microsoft PowerShell v1.0 5. Microsoft Exchange 2007 SP1 x86 Management Tools (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=6be38633-7248-4532-929b-76e9c677e802)Regards,Zoltn http://www.clamagent.org - Free Antivirus for Exchangehttp://www.it-pro.huhttp://emaildetektiv.hu

Those functions are built into Exchange 2007 but not 2003. The only tool I'm aware of on the server side is to use ExMerge. I dont think you can get around the size problem because you are doing an item level export to PST. I guess what are you trying to accomplish?Mark Morowczynski|MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

Hi Mark,Yes the tools are Exchange 2007 tools but you can use them to import/export mailboxes in Exchange 2003 environment if you install the programs what I mentioned above.Regards,Zoltnhttp://www.clamagent.org - Free Antivirus for Exchange http://www.it-pro.hu http://emaildetektiv.hu

Right but I think the export import functionality replaces the ExMerge capability. So I'm unclear on what we are trying to accomplish.Mark Morowczynski|MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

Hi Mark,As I understand we want to export oversized mailboxes from Exchenge 2003 what can be accomplished with the Exchange 2007 tools and not with the ExMerge.Regards,Zoltnhttp://www.clamagent.org - Free Antivirus for Exchange http://www.it-pro.hu http://emaildetektiv.hu

Why wont ExMerge be able to accomplish this? I'm not very familiar with the other commands. Mark Morowczynski|MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

Hi Mark,Beacause ExMerge uses the old (pre Outlook 2003) pst format what has two limitation:- No Unicode support- 2 GB size limitIf you check the original question it states:"Is there documentation about it, other than ExMerge (because of the size problem)?"Regards,Zoltnhttp://www.clamagent.org - Free Antivirus for Exchange http://www.it-pro.hu http://emaildetektiv.hu

Hi Everyone, I am working an issue that you had in 2009 in the year 2012. Did Zoltan's 5 Step recommendation work or is there a better method now for this issue? Thank you all in advance!!! Respectfully, Frank
