Implement Exchange 2007 and only use OWA
Hi, we are an International School and we have around 150 Users. Currently we are using a third party email server (not Exchange) where all of our users use webmail to read their emails and none of them downloads the emails locally. We are now moving forward to implement Exchange 2007 in our environment and i would prefer to encourage all of our users to ONLY use OWA (permanently) and NOT to use Outlook client to download messages to their desktop. This is because most of our staffs doesnt own their own laptop and they move around the school to use different PCs to view their emails. I am planning to give each of our users 400MB of quota per inbox. All of them are quite good in sorting out and cleaning up their emails. 1. Is is practical to encourage users to ONLY use OWA permanently ? 2. Will our users face any performance issues ? 3. Is anyone practising this methodology ? Please advise and i would highly appreciate any comments and recommendations as i have no idea on Exchange. Thanks in advance Aznan NagorAznan

Hi, 1. Is is practical to encourage users to ONLY use OWA permanently ? Ans: In exchange there are options to enable/Disable the access types to the users mailbox like OWA , Outlook , Active Sync ,IMAP and POP3. Check details in below article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629661%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx 2. Will our users face any performance issues ? Ans: With 150 users each having 400 MB mailboxes there will be no performance issues. 3. Is anyone practising this methodology ? Ans: This is practised in many organisation who do not all users to keep PST files on their local machines. Mahendra

Is outlook already deployed?Performance depends on perception, what have they been using so far. Will they loose any funtionality? This methodology is not about pst files as the creation of pst's can be disabled.
