I want to stop read and delivery receipts request for Outgoing Messages on Exchange 2010
Hello, I am using in the Office an Exchange Server 2010, with no SP1 installed. I have several users that have enabled in MS Outlook 2007, the Request Delivery Receipt and Request Read Receipt options, for all their outgoing emails. Is there a way to remove these requests on the Server, overcoming users' settings? Thanks in advance.

Organisation Configuration Hub Transport Remote Domains Default (or other if you have non-defaults domains) Properties then message format tab. Neill

That will prevent sending delivery notifications to remote domains. I believe the OP wants to prevent his users from sending requests. Michalis, look at transport rules in 2010 and try removing: Disposition-Notification-To and Return-Receipt-To from the headers. There are also trasnport rule predicates that may help: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638183.aspx Look for the MessageType set to ReadReceipt Another option is a GPO applied to all the Outlook clients.

Hi Andy, You are quite right. I need to prevent MY users from sending requests. Can you help me a bit more with the transport rules? How do I remove the above mentioned values from the headers? Do you think that GPO would be an easier way to accomplish what I described? Thanks, Michalis

Check out: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/e9d45ef6-b2bf-4c1a-bfad-9dd1b24862b5/ Having tried the above solution at a few client sites and hitting issues where they dont work, a sure fire way of ensuring read receipts are not sent to external people is to configure FOUR transport rules... Rule 1: From users outside the organization Remove header "X-Confirm-Reading-To" Rule 2: From users outside the organization Remove header "Disposition-Notification-To" Rule 3: From users outside the organization Remove header "Return-Receipt-To" Rule 4: From users outside the organization Remove header "Receipt-Requested-To"
