When I click on edit in the contact form, I then click on the field I would like to add or change, say telephone number.  Then I get a list of possible telephone number types that I can add (home2, cell, etc.).  I click on one of these names but nothing happens.  I don't see how to add new data or change existing data.  What am I do

Normally after you click "Edit" and choose the telephone number type, you should be able to edit it. I suspect the issue may be caused by some 3rd-party add-ins.

Please disable all 3rd-party add-ins from FILE -> Options -> Add-Ins, check if the issue persists. If there's no such issue when all these add-ins are disabled, probably one of them caused the problem. Please disable them one by one to narrow down the scope.
