IP change problem
Hello I have following prolem in my exchange 2007 environment: I have single forest sigle domain environment. We have single exchange server with HUB, Clien access and mailbox roles installed. I need to change subnet addresses in my environment. all servers are in same subnet. I changed the ip address of domain controlers and verified that everything was fine, I edited AD site settings adding new sybnet under the site (I have one AD site) I tested ad servers by running netdiag and dcdiag commands. I also created new reverse zone in DNS service. Now I tried to change IP of exchange server. after change I ran comannds flushdns and registerdns and booted server. I deleted old host records for dns and checked that there was new host A record with new ip. Problem is my database goes unknown status. I get error message Could not connect to the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service on server XXX. Information store service starts ok. and outlook can connect exchange, But nothing else is not working. Best practice tool says it can not connect exchange. From firewall log I can see exchange new ip address is trying read its old IP address... Any suggestions what should be done to make this work BR Henri

Do you have any NAT / Port Forwarding for Exchange in your Firewall?Jesper Bernle | Blog: http://xchangeserver.wordpress.com

Yes there is NAT. There is Cisco firewall. But how this could affect Exchange? when we changed ip subnet we also changed nat settings.

Yes there is NAT. There is Cisco firewall. But how this could affect Exchange? when we changed ip subnet we also changed nat settings. Well, it can affect external mail flow going in and out. But since you got that covered all is ok with that part I assume. Although I find this statement somewhat confusing "From firewall log I can see exchange new ip address is trying read its old IP address..." Well, have you double checked all NIC settings on your Exchange? Can you run NETDIAG successfully? What DC/GC does Exchange say it has choosen if you look under properties on the Server object in EMC?Jesper Bernle | Blog: http://xchangeserver.wordpress.com

Quote: “Problem is my database goes unknown status” Is there any related event in the application log? What happens after remount the database? Quote: “Best practice tool says it can not connect exchange” Please provide the exact information about it Additionally, if connectors on the exchange use specific IP address instead of "All Unassigned", after changing the IP address in the properties of network adaptor, you need to double-check in the properties to make sure the new IP address is reflected there Please do the same on the “Internal DNS Lookups” and “External DNS Lookups” options (Reference)Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
