IMAP Logging

I was wondering if someone could provide me with some guidance as to at what point IMAP logging occurs.

I have enabled IMAP logging on all of my QA servers and have confirmed it by running the Get-ImapSettings cmdlet. I have tested by telneting to the boxes on 143 & 993. If I run netstat I can confirm the connections. However, the logging folder is never created and there is nothing for me to review. Is this the expected behavior, does IMAP logging only occur after successful and authenticated connections? Any guidance on this would be helpful

Thanks

Why not successfully connect with Outlook configured with an IMAP profile and see?

I was able to use OpenSSL to connect to the server, log on, fetch mailbox folders as well as mail items within them and then log off without a single log file being created. I suspect this becomes an issue with logging rather than wondering at which point log files are created. A full login and normal session activity should have created some logs.

After some further trouble shooting I discovered that the diagnostic logging levels were set to Lowest. Once I made the change I started to see the folder populate.

Here is the Technet Article that further details how to make the setting change should anyone stumble on this in the future.
