Hub And Edge Question
Hi i have few question about hub transport , hopefully someone can help to clear my doubts. In my current enviroment exchange 2007 , i do not have the edge server . 1)If in the accepted domain , if i specify the domainA "external relay option " will it automatic route out again using default smtp connector ? Or due to i do not have the edge server i should create another smtp connector to force email to be send out of exchange server ? 2)After i able to set the configuration and i receive invalid recipient . Will it causing a loop email ?

Answeres in-Line 1)If in the accepted domain , if i specify the domainA "external relay option " will it automatic route out again using default smtp connector ? Or due to i do not have the edge server i should create another smtp connector to force email to be send out of exchangeyes server ? Answer:- If exchange is not able to find user having proxy address of domain A - messages should get queue to available SMTP queue or you may see some looping of messages to one queue to another. to avoid this situation and to reduce operational effort my suggestion is to give a SMTP path to domainA users. 2)After i able to set the configuration and i receive invalid recipient . Will it causing a loop email ? Answer:- configuring a SMTP path for domainA users should not cause a loop.Best Rgds, Ashish | Unified Comunication | MCTS | MCITP | Please remember to select option "Propose As Answer" if solution work for you | My posts hold no assurances, no promises, and they measured no rights.

“Internal Relay Domain: To specify that recipients in this domain do not have mailboxes in the Exchange organization, but do have contacts in the address book, and that e-mail messages will be relayed for this domain through hub servers in the Exchange organization, select this option.” “External Relay Domain: To specify that recipients in this domain do not have mailboxes in the Exchange organization and that e-mail messages will be relayed for this domain through the computers that have the Edge Transport server role installed, select this option” ---------Refer to <Organization Configuration > Hub Transport > Accepted Domain Properties > General Tab > Domain Type Control> For external relay, I think you will need an edge serverPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
