How to use PFDAVADMIN on Exchange 2007 (missing WebDAV??)
I am really frustrated because I can't get PFDAVAdmin tool to work with my organizations Exchange 2007in any way (Sharing all the calendars for all the organisation). I have done a lot of search from the Internet but with no success.I used to use this wonderful tool a lot with our earlier Exchange 2003 but with the version 2007 its useless so far. I could use Setperm, but it's not possible to make it one by one for all the mailboxes. I tried to usePFDAVADMINfrom many different servers and workstations with .NET FW 1.1 or 2.0. We have CAS/HUB roles installed on a server named EX-HUB and clustered mailboxes on EX-MAIL1 and EX-MAIL2 with the mail server name EXE. When I try to connect the PFDAVAdmin 2.8 to the EXE (with the correct DC/GC) it opens the Getting mailbox list... dialog that stays forever and not progressing. After 2 tries to close the dialog there is an error: Could not expand https://EXE/exchange/: Failed to find Default HTTP Virtual Server (For that error message all I found on the net is "try from another server or workstation and check the .net fw 1.1 or 2.0 - I have done the both). Btw, there is no virtual directory named Exchange on the EXEs IIS. Maybe because that we didnt use any OL200/2003 at the time of the installation of the Exchange 2007? The onlly thing in the IIS of EXE is /aspnet_client folder in the "Default Web Sites" and additionali to the last on there is a "SMEX Web Site" virtual web site. I noticed that there are/Exadmin (the resourec inthe Properites is \\.\BackOfficeStorage), /Exchange (\\.\BackOfficeStorage\hm.ee\MBX) and /Public (\\.\BackOfficeStorage\hm.ee\Public Folders) virtual directories on the IIS of EX-MAIL1 nut not on the EX-MAIL2 or EXE. Whe I try to connect to the server EX-HUB, there will be non-expandable Mailboxes in the left pane and nothing in the right one. There is no Exchange-named virtual directory in the IIS of EX-HUB neither. The Default Web Site of IIS for EX-HUB has /Autodiscover, /EWS, /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync, /OAB, /owa, /Rpc, /RpcWithCert, /UnifiedMessaging and /aspnet_client directories. Even /owa doesnt have the /Exchange subdirectory in it. I tried to create a new owa virtual directory: New-OWAVirtualDirectory -OwaVersion:Exchange2003or2000 -VirtualDirectoryType Mailboxes -Name "Exchange" -WebSiteName "Default Web Site" Now there is 2 virtual directories for our Exchange:[PS] Q:\>Get-OwaVirtualDirectory NameServer OwaVersion---------- ----------owa (Default Web Site)EX-HUB Exchange2007Exchange (Default Web Site)EX-HUB Exchange2003or2000 Then I allowed WebDav in Web Service Extensions of the EX-HUBs IIS (and for EX-MAIL1) and restartthe IIS but no success. If I connect to the ip-address of EX-HUB, I get the Mailboxes in the left pane that expands only to an error: Could not expand https://X.X.X.X/exchange/: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. To what server the pfdavadmin shoul connect, to EX-HUB or to EXE or to one of the clustered mailbox servers (to the active one), I was thinking it shoud be the EXE?Isthe problemconnected to non-existent or wrongly set virtual directory /Exchange? Should that directory exist on the EXE or on the EX-HUB server where /owa resides? How shoud the directory created correctly? Maybe the problem is because I don't have the right legacy wedav directories (the WebDAV tab on the EMC/Server Configuration/Mailbox is empty), as I understood the PFdavAdmin can connect only through WebDAV NOT through OWA,but I haven't suceeded to find any instructions how to create legacy WebDAV directories. Any help is highly appreciated, thank you very much in andvance! (And sorry for my bad English!)

I have a virtual PC with XP and v1.1 .Net FW (without SP1) installed. As I wrote above, no success. BTW, Microsoft has said somewhwere that v.2.0 should work too because it contains the v.1.1. But, as I said, I tried every version on workstations.

Even now I have a XP SP2 with .NET FW v.1.1_SP1 but nothing helps. When I try to connect to EXE.contoso.com as you told I get the error:"An error occurred whiled truing to establish a connection to the Exchange server. ... Failed to connectusingsecure URL https://EXE.conoso.com/ExAdmin/Admin/... "And, as I said, there is NO such virtual directory in the IIS of EXE like /Exadmin! If you read my question there are the two directories (/Exchange and /Exadmin) only on theNODE 1 (EX-MAIL1), no such directories on the NODE 2 (EX-MAIL2) nor EXE!In the same way, there is no directories on the tab "WebDAV" of the Exchange Management Console, it's empty! That's why I guessed the problem is connected with missing of the legacy WebDAV directories on our Exchange environment!I still hope to get some help!

This is an issue with IIS _ ExAdminWorkstation option should work..Ratish If you know how to create the /ExAdmin directory along with /Exchange could you please assist me? Creating OWA virtual directories did not help. As you can read from my first question and the other posts above, running the utility from any workstation does not work!

" You entered Https:// EXE.Contoso.com/public into the Connect window as like my post, but got the error said Failed to connect https://EXE.conoso.com/ExAdmin/Admin? No, for that error I did not entered any UREL in the "Connection" box, I tried the radio buttons "Public Folders" and "All Mailboxes" (as I need to make changes for the Calendars permissions). But now I tried with "Specified Mailbox" and your suggested URL and the error in respons was the same with difference that "Failed to connect using secure URLhttps://EXE.contoso.com/publicwith error: The underlying connection was cloased: Unable to connect to the remote server.. Failed to connect using unsecure URL http://EXE.conoso.com/public with error: The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request..And, once more I have to tell: ther is NO such virtual directories in the IIS of the EXE like it used to be for E2k3 the same is for the /public folder. It cannot get connected to non existent directories!Unfortunately I can't find any assistant how to create the LEGACY WebDAV directories for the Exchange 2007 environment...

For me pfdavadmin started working after I turned off http forwarding. I had it on there originally because I wanted all traffic to go to my NLB CAS servers. Once I created the 2003 folders with these commands on active node new-OwaVirtualDirectory -OwaVersion "Exchange2003or2000" -VirtualDirectoryType "Exadmin" -DomainController "server_name" new-OwaVirtualDirectory -OwaVersion "Exchange2003or2000" -VirtualDirectoryType "PublicFolders" -DomainController "server_name" new-OwaVirtualDirectory -OwaVersion "Exchange2003or2000" -VirtualDirectoryType "Mailboxes" -DomainController "server_name" I was good to go -

I hadn't needed pfdavadmin for a while as I rebuilt my laptop for Windows 7 and when I went to use it it didn't work. So I started searching again and found my own post (too funny) the commands didn't work though. Turns out that I did them on what was then the active node and this time the active services were on the other node. So I had to run Remove-OwaVirtualDirectory -Identity "Exadmin (Default Web Site)" Remove-OwaVirtualDirectory -Identity "Exchange (Default Web Site)" Remove-OwaVirtualDirectory -Identity "Public (Default Web Site)" then the old ones new-OwaVirtualDirectory -OwaVersion "Exchange2003or2000" -VirtualDirectoryType "Exadmin" -DomainController "server_name" new-OwaVirtualDirectory -OwaVersion "Exchange2003or2000" -VirtualDirectoryType "PublicFolders" -DomainController "server_name" new-OwaVirtualDirectory -OwaVersion "Exchange2003or2000" -VirtualDirectoryType "Mailboxes" -DomainController "server_name" And once again I was good to go, I also installed .net framework 1.1 but don't know if that was necesaary as my laptop already had .net 4
