How to uninstall and re-install exchange 2007 server?
I have a serious situation in which I remove powershell by mistake on my exchange 2007 server, which makes it impossible for me to install new rollups nor run EMC from the server. I think the only solution I have is to uninstall all roles, then remove EMC and reinstall all roles again. However, if I do this, will I loose any emails, configuration settings, databases, etc.? Or will everything remain intact as before? Thanks! -s

Most of the Exchange information is stored in the configuration and domain naming partition of the Active Directory. Some is stored in the databases, and some locally on the server (such as registry settings, metabase/configuration files, tweaks to OWA). Basically you should be able to do a fresh reinstall if needed and have your server functional and up and running. The most important part of course is that you have valid backups of your databases. Before you do such a thing, make sure that you document everything as far as you can, most importantly disk layout. Basically it's a good idea to document all configuration steps in the first place. Hi, What’s your operation system? Is it server 2003? You may do not need to reinstall all the roles. Have you tried to reinstall Powershell? I had a same problem as yours and it is resolved by reinstalling Powershell. You can download the Powershell from the following link: Windows PowerShell 1.0 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/technologies/management/powershell/download.mspx If you cannot install Powershell, please follow these steps to check if the previous PowerShell has been removed completely: 1. Open Windows Explorer. Show the hidden files and folders. 2. Go to c:\windows and open "$NtuninstallKB926139$" folder or "$NtuninstallKB926139-v2$" folder. 3. Go to $NtuninstallKB926139$\spuninst\, double click spuninst.exe to uninstall the PowerShell again. Then try to reinstall it.
