How to send externally with different default reply address?
I have a group of users that have been using an outside third party solution for email that are switching to our Exchange 2007 server. These select few configured forwards on their server to send to my Exchange server's SMTP address @my.domain.com. That all works fine. Now they would like their reply address to appear the same as their original server (ie: @the.oldcompany.com). So I configured their default reply address to reflect this. This also works fine. But now these few Exchange users want email that is destined to each other to actually be sent outside to their original server (which still has active users), then forwarded back to their Exchange accounts. Lets say we have joe@the.oldcompany.com and jeff@the.oldcompany.com and they are both on the Exchange server. When they type the full email address, Outlook queries the Exchange SMTP aliases and sends mail straight to them without leaving the server. I'd like to prevent this so it leaves the server and comes back via the forwards on their third party server. How do I configure this? For now I took a guess and added an External Relay for the domain @the.oldcompany.com
