How to route if Internal and External e-mail has same address
Hi!
I have 2 domains: 1 is Exchange and 1 is Domino.
I configured them so that they have 2 address spaces.
Exchange: @exchange.com, @test.com
Domino/Notes: @test.com, @the.test.com
Since both of them have @test.com, whenever I try to send to @test.com from Exchange, Exchange just checks itself since it has the @test.com address.
For example, I have a user in Domino named user. His addresses are user@test.com anduser@the.test.com.
If I send to: user@test.com from the Exchange server, since it does not exist in the Exchange server, it gives me an error: account not existing.
However, when I try to send to the other e-mail address (@the.test.com), it is ok.
Same goes with Notes; it just checks itself if the address specified can be located in the internal domain.
What I would like to do is first have the Exchange server check if it has that email. If not, then send to the external domain or something. Not return an error. Same with the Notes.
I hope you can help me.
Thank you!

You are sharing the SMTP address space.
This requires configuration in Exchange.
However it is different for the various versions.

Hi Sembee, Thanks for replying.
Yes, thank you for that. I found out that what I needed to do was create a Accepted Domain with the address I want, (test.com) and set it to "Internal Relay". This way, it will re-route if user is not found in its site.
Thank you!
