We already have a bunch of people using iphone/android/iPad devices, but with no secure email policy.

I've created a test email policy and pushed it to my android. It does prompt me when I access email if I want to check the policy settings, but it also allows me to bypass it and go right to my email.

How can I require that users create a PIN or Password for the new policy without bypassing it? Also, is it possible to require a password/pin for just email and not the entire device? If not, what happens if they already have a password/pin setup on the device and the policy gets pushed down?

Ultimately it's up to the device's OS developer to implement their own flavor of ActiveSync.  You can only make the settings you are making in your policy.  If you want to post your policy settings, we can review them, but there's no guarantee that the device will do what you want it to do.
