Hi to all, We need to rename a domain with single Exchange 20007 as a member server in it. A lot of information, tools and support are available for renaming a domain with Exchange 2003, but unfortunately that is not our case. XDR-fixup is only available for Exchange 2003 and I found no references that it will fix AD with Exchange 2007. According to Microsoft domain rename operations are not supported when Exchange Server 2007 is installed in a Windows Server 2003 domain (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925822), however they are mentioning one possible problem, thatDSAccess component willno longer correctly query domain controllers and possible solution to it is to specify the domain controller that DSAccess uses manually, after a domain has been renamed. Has anyone been doing a domain rename with Exchange 2007? Is it possible to use existing Exchange 2003 XDR-fixup tool for fixing up AD with Exchange 2007? What are other specific issues and problems that might take place after rename is done? Thank you all for your help, Regards, Alex

I also answered this question over in the MSExchange.org forum where you posted it. A domain rename of a forest containing Exchange 2007 servers are not supported nor does it work. It sounds like your best option is a cross-forest transition since you already deployed the first Exchange 2007 server.

I just wanted to comment that I keep seeing this question on a multitude of sites. This will have to be fixed. It is very annoying that with the inclusion of a new email program, you lose functionality that was somewhat of a "godsend" when you walked into organizations that really needed to reorg their forests. Maybe when Windows 2008 is out, this will get resolved with an update to both Exchange 2007 and Win2k8. Seems like a good way to get people to upgrade the OS!

@HenrikCould this be accomplished by removing the entire Exchange Organization from the Forest or is the installation of E2K7 a caveat?
