How to remove a hard deleted CAS virtual machine from Exchange organization

Hi,

This is a test enviroment.

Setup:

One DC(2008 r2) , Functional level 2008 r2
Exchange 2013 CU7 with three machines with MB roles ONLY (2012 r2), two machines with CAS only. (2012R2)
Outlook version: 2013

I had to scrap (hard delete) virtual machines running CAS (Virtual Machine A) and Mailbox roles (Virtual Machine B).

The disks on which these VMs were running, got corrupted

My outlook clients are still trying to connect to the old CAS first and then to the new one.

How to get rid of the old CAS server for the queries clients are trying or possibly how to remove it from the system.

Hi pandey,

Thank you for your question.

We could refer to the vishwanaths suggestion to delete it from ADsiedit, msc by the following steps:

  1.        Run ADsiedit.msc in RUN
  2.        Navigate to Configuration [<domainController>.contoso.com]> CN=Configuration,DC=contoso,DC=com> CN=Services> CN=Microsoft Exchange> CN=<OrganizationName> CN=Administrative Group> CN=Exchange Administrative Group>CN=Server, then delete the old serve. Notice: we should backup AD database before we modify it.
  3.        Then we could rebuild the profile on outlook client to check if the issue persist

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim
