How to recover Exchange accounts when domain controller is no longer active...
We had a working Exchange server together with Active Directory (installed on another machine- domain controller) Exchange accounts were actually domain accounts. Then the domain controller machine's hard disk failed and there was no secondary domain controller (although we could manage accounts through exchange machine- with active directory users and computers mmc tool on the exchange server machine). After all we re-installed win2003 server and active directory (with the same domain name as before) on the domain controller machine.. i am aware that the domain is not same but is there a way of importing those old accounts and profiles to this new domain (from the exchange machine) when i run exchange system manager it tells: There is no Microsoft Exchange Organization in that domain. ID no: c1030a8c Exchange System Manager Thanks in advance.. I need urgent help....

Probably the quickest way to get the data back (exported out of the old database) is to purchase something like Quest's Exchange Recovery Manager for Exchange or OnTrack's PowerControls for Exchange. These tools will let you mount a database WITHOUT an Exchange server and merge data out to a PST or in to another mailbox. If you are looking to do this manually, take a look at this whitepaper. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125070.aspx What you want to build is a recovery server.
