How to re-create a user mailbox
Hi All -Exchange 2007 sp1 ru8I have a user who can not run in cached mode (Outlook 2007) , has muilple instances of calendar , notes etc showing , enterprise vault wont archiveI have been able to export her mailbox to a pst (and also her enterprise vault archive)I attempted to move the mailbox to another store , selecting to skip corrupted messages but it fails after opening the destination folder - Due to the number of weird errors affecting only this one user i have decided to create a new mailbox for themWhats the best approach to get this user sorted with a new mailbox , creating a new AD account etc for them to use is not an option unless i really have to (senior staff memebr)Ideally need to be able to get a new mailbox connected to the account and then import the pst files back in and keep all exchange settingsCan i disable the user from Exchange , create a new mailbox and attach to the user... or does the original mailbox have to have been purged first ...worried it may not pruge if its corrupted (from reading other posts on this) then i am stuck with not being able to connect a mailboxor should i create new ad account called user2 , a copy of user 1 , mail enable it , then disable user1 and hide from address list , enable user2 and set all exchange settings as per user 1Looking for a tried and tested best practice methodThanks

You can mailbox-disable the user to disconnect from their current mailbox, and then re-enable and create a new mailbox. The old mailbox will remain there in disconnected status until the cleanup process ages it out and purges it.
