How to push a URL change for Outlook Anywhere(All users LAN and Remote) from Exchange 2007 SP2?
Outlook 2007, 2010 We need to change the OA URL under "Exchange Proxy settings" in Outllook for all users automatically without user intervention. I tried changing the setting in the EMC for OA but it does not update that setting in Outlook for when several users connect over TCP/IP (LAN) .How can this be done? John

Hi, You can do this using Office Customization Tool (OCT). For more information on how to use Office Customization Tool refer to below link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179036.aspx Thanks.Nagaraj N

Autodiscovery should take care of that. How long did you wait to see if the new URL was upated for those users?

Hi, That's default behaviour. Please understand that Outlook uses the initial Autodiscover "free" request that is performed at six-hour intervals by design. If you want to update the Profile immediately, you have to manually force the Autodiscover service to update the user's profile settings. Open Outlook 2007. In Outlook 2007, click Tools, and then click Account Settings. On the E-mail Accounts page, on the E-mail tab, click Repair. Follow the steps in the Repair E-mail Account wizard. Andy and Allen, Thanks for your replies. Very helpful. Now I forgot to disclose this. Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2007 are coexisting together. So - Outlook Anywhere is enabled in both servers - All mailboxes still reside in Exchange 2007 server 1- Is it a good practice to disable OA in Exchange 2007 for example and let Exchange 2010 server handle the rpc/https? 2- If I need to leave the two ON, should I change the OA Url in Exchange 2007 to legacy.domain.com? Thanks john

Hi, Of course, you can just enable the Outlook Anywhere on the Exchange 2010, then ensure the relevant Validport regkey of the Exchange 2007 to be added into the Exchange 2010 CAS. The 2010 CAS supports the RPC communication for the Exchange 2007 Mailbox server. Thanks AllenAllen Song

Allen, Does it need to be added or it gets set automatically when Ex 2010 CAS is introduced? Are you referring to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\RpcProxy ? Thanks John

Hi, You don't need to add it manually since it's done automatically. The key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\RpcProxy\ValidPorts Thanks AllenAllen Song
