How to permanently delete all records of an email - EXCH2010
Good morning all! We are running Exchange 2010 with a 4 member DAG, 3 copies. We have a need to occasionally locate an email, and permanently delete not only the email but all records of the email being sent / received.
I know i can delete it with: Get-Mailbox -Database mailboxdb | Export-Mailbox -SubjectKeywords “Virus message” -DeleteContent
and could easily script that to run across all of our databases. But how long will it take for that to be deleted from the copies? will the records of it be purged from the logs when it gets a full backup on each Database? Will this
delete the item from the Deleted Item Rention?
Thank you for the assistance.

Hi
When you delete from the active, the passive will replay this transaction as configured for DAG.
If you delete the message, and you have backups then this will be on tape/san where ever the backups are held.
After the message is deleted, and you take a backup that evening, it will not exisit in that backup.

The deleted items won’t go to “Deleted items” folder or dumpster for recovery after you use the “DeleteContent”. It
will be permanent
