Is the production database in another forest? You cannot take an Exchange database and move it outside of the forest. Database Portability http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123954.aspx

I checked the Database Portability. We have the same Exchange/Windows version in lab.Funnyghost

Its not about the version of Exchange and Windows, its about the Forest. If you have a duplicate of your existing AD Forest/Org in the lab, then it will work. Otherwise, you will have to manipulate legacyexchangedn values. It can get messy, but that will work as well.

If you have a true duplicate forest in the lab, you can do a redirected restore from your backup server or simply dsimount and copy the database from prod to the lab, or restore to a RSG in production and then copy the store over to the lab.
