How to move SMTP load balancer to Cisco ACE device?
I have inherited two Mail Hub/CAS Exchange 2007 servers on Server 2003 SP2, HP ProLiant BL460c G1. Each has a single NIC enabled (not teamed). These two NICs are configured in a NLB cluster through the Microsoft Load Balancing Manager v5.2 and are working just fine, no issues. My network team wants to move the NLB off the servers and onto a Cisco ACE NLB device. We have successfully moved the Http traffic to the Cisco, but I'm at a loss for how to move the SMTP traffic to it. I've searched for the answer but so far it has eluded me. Links to the info or detailed description would be most appreciated! RobertRobert

In another related topic, what effect would teaming the NICs in these HP servers cause? I don't like single point of failure at the NIC, and have seen posts saying that teaming is more trouble than it is worth, teaming with NLB does not mix, etc. Thoughts and comments are most welcomed! Whatever (with the exception of Exchange traffic) is using the VIP address of the NLD now uses that new IP address. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
