How to move Mailboxes or Exchange 2007 Database to a Brand New Exchange 2007 Server.
Hello Everybody, I have a SBS 2008 Server with Exchange 2007 and Iwant to move all the Exchange data to a new server. I want to do a clean install of the new server (New active directory). The new server is ready and the only thing left is to move the Exchange 2007 Data from the old Server. What migration Path should I use? I will be moving Mailboxes and Public Folders. I was thinking on Using exmerge to export and import the data but I am really sure there is a easy option. Please help Thanks

You won't be able to. You'll need to have different Names IPs Forest DNS/NetBIOS Name etc... Your only other option would be to Export Data to PST and Import via PST. With this method you'll need to take the old LegacyExchangeDNs and import them as x500 addresses for the users in the new forest so replies continue to work off of old e-mails. For public folder data you'd use inter-org replication tool. But if you want to use the same name/etc... you'll just need to do something such as export the public folder data, import it into the new forest and Re-ACL it in the new forest. A tool like PFDavAdmin has the capability to export/import public folder permissions or you can just do it manually if you don't use a lot of public folders.MVP | MCSE:M | MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator | MCTS: OCS + Voice Specialization | http://www.shudnow.net

First, if you want to move SBS 2008 to new hardware, MS has detailed instructions:Migrate to Windows Small Business Server 2008 from Windows Small Business Server 2008 (.doc). This document contains step-by-step instructions for migrating to Windows Small Business Server 2008 from Windows Small Business Server 2008. Use this document when moving Windows SBS 2008 to new hardware.Downloadable documentation for Windows Small Business Server 2008http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc707659(WS.10).aspxThen to your questions:ExMerge is not supported on Exchange 2007, but you van still use it. There are the same limitations as before:* PST that is created during export is using the ANSICode File Format, thereby limiting the maximum size to 2GB.* PST has to be ANSICode File Format to be able to import it, thereby limiting the maximum size to 2GB.Step by Step: ExMerge and Exchange 2007http://www.pro-exchange.eu/modules.php?$1&name=News&file=article&sid=881The replacement for ExMerge is Export-MailboxHow to Export and Import mailboxes to PST files in Exchange 2007 SP1 http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/04/13/437745.aspxUnfortunately there is no Inter-Organization Replication tool for Public Folders for Exchange 2007, so your option is either a costly commercial tool or do it manually as suggested here:Cross Forest Public Folder Movehttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/exchangesvrmigration/thread/a6db441f-adca-4a35-9355-44b92cff7726/Do also take a look at Microsoft Exchange Server Public Folder DAV-based Administration Tool with its ability to bulk export/import the permissionshttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=635BE792-D8AD-49E3-ADA4-E2422C0AB424&displaylang=enThere is no need for trusts when you only move mailboxes, and yes, you have to use the Move-Mailbox command and supply valid credentials.
